Summer Loving!

Hello everyone, apologies it has been a while once again since my last post! This features an element of my love/hate relationship with summer. I love the flowers and my garden but at the same time the humidity consistently gets to me and I'm simply one of those people that gets really flustered and overheated. These photographs were all taken in my garden, of my garden and featuring my baby dog Star...!

For the hot weather I can't help but dig out a pair of cool hippy pants in varying colours and patterns and a plain black or white t-shirt for a relaxed look. Make-up wise, I do rely on concealer, eyebrow pencil, blusher, eyeliner, mascara and an SPF lipstick for a bit of coverage and obviously sunglasses are a must. I bought these lovely Birkenstocks at a bargain price from my local TKMaxx and I was a convert literally straightaway, I love the bright pop of colour too, and they are study and stylish. Although this outfit isn't the most beautiful or stylish, I felt really confident, cool and comfortable in it, and for me, that's what summer dressing is really about.

I do appreciate a beautiful flower/plant although I must admit I'm not keen on the long watering/caring for plants at the end of the day but its annoying seeing Star rip up/play with/eat various plants that my nana grows! Talking of my nana, she made me these gorgeous camera earrings for my 21st birthday and I've worn them so so often ever since, they seem to work with everything and add a bit of my personality to everything I wear, they're a little quirky too which I adore. Do any of you have a specific piece of jewellery or outfit you immediately run to when you need a quick inspiration fix? Let me what you thought of this post via the comments too! See you soon, Rach x x x

Outfit of the Week! ~ 1960s wannabe!

Hey sweeties! This is this weeks outfit of the week, apologies again for the bad picture quality as I didn't use my DSLR like I had planned, which was silly of me. However I'm super proud of the look overall, especially the hair as it's the first time that I've ever done a hairstyle like that! I used a small donut from Primark and pushed my hair along over it before securing it with 4 kirby grips at the back of my head just behind it. Voilà!   The lighting was pretty bad on the day though, it was really overcast which didn't help the overall photos either, boo.

I wanted to create a 1960's style outfit, but it was created on a budget, it cost £38 altogether and yet I felt pretty sophisticated and glamourous, mostly due to the hairstyle, hah! The make-up was pale skin and lips with a large, sweeping flicked liquid eyeliner and perfectly groomed brows. I LOVE LOVE LOVE this dress, the appliquéd lace bodice is simply beautiful, and the blush colour really works against any skin tone. My legs aren't my favourite feature, so it's a little short for my liking, but I can put up with that for the nice cut and flow of the organza skirt.

The shoes were a complete bargain from Primark, and a whim purchase but I'm really excited that I found them, as they go with almost every outfit being that lovely warm tan colour. Tan shoes and bags are a big weakness of mine, as you'll see as the year goes on and I blog more and more regularly. Let me know what you think of this week's outfit! Rach x x x

Outfit of the Week

Hi - sorry for the terrible quality of these photos; should've used my Nikon D3100 but as I was at university today I didn't want to make my bag any heavier… However my lesson is well and truly learned, as compact cameras are not great, AT ALL. Regardless, it seemed silly to waste these photos, so here they are. Is it me or was it absolutely freezing today?! I was way too brave standing outside in the cold without a coat or scarf in this weather!

One thing I have far to many of in my wardrobe is lace dresses, I definitely have far too big of a collection; I literally can't get enough of them. They're effortlessly stylish on any shape, as are cardigans. Whenever I wear white or cream I always have a red lip as I'm so pale that I can look really washed out if I'm not careful. I'm loving dresses right now, although in this cold it's a bit of a pain, I'm thinking that I should probably invest in some cable knit tights, so a shopping trip is definitely on its way once payday arrives.

I really don't like my hair or eye make-up in these photos - too much eyeliner, and my hair is in that horrible growing out a drastic haircut phase, I seriously want my fringe to disappear out of my life and my hair 'Rapunzel' hair [as my mum used to call it] back. I dyed it blonder when I cut it as it lost all of its life and warmth, and I'm now regretting that too, yay. Hopefully it'll be better once summer comes, or so I hope as I'm going to be a bridesmaid at a friends wedding.

Sorry for not posting too much, I've been so busy with work and university, but I promise I've got a few posts lined up for the next couple of weeks which is exciting, so stay tuned! Rach x x x
