Awesome Blogger Tag

Hello again guys, I found this tag through the lovely youcancallmecaz - I love finding little posts like these through other bloggers as I enjoy getting to know other bloggers a bit more. I really enjoy doing this tags too, I feel like it's nice to let you know a little more about me too.

1. What is the biggest beauty mistake you’ve ever made?

Definitely the years where I either massively overplucked my eyebrows to the point where I had the biggest forehead ever, or where I had the biggest, bushiest uni brow ever... Both of these looks weren't the best. I also regret the foundation over my eyebrows phase, that was definitely the worst idea ever; the rest of my make up during sixth form was ok, apart from my brows!

2. Have you ever ended a friendship or relationship and regretted it?
So many times; I hate reminiscing about old memories or people that I was super close to in the past because it always makes me miss them, but ultimately most of my friendships or relationships have ended because people stopped bothering to contact me, for example not replying to my texts or cancelling on plans, so ultimately I know I tried my best... So I think the phrase everything happens for a reason is definitely applicable to this question and life in general, I suppose.

3. How would you describe your style?
To be honest, it really depends on my mood; I'm either a jeans and t-shirt girl, or a full on girly girl with 50s style dresses, lots of jewellery and red lipstick with a bit of vintage and embroidery. I'd say it's a little quirky, with cardigans and cutesy shoes, I guess some people would probably say that my style is a bit twee, haha.

4. A guest is coming round your house for dinner, what would you make?
I'm not the best cook in the world, but I'd make a chorizo salad with a side of baby roasted potatoes. For desert, an apple and raspberry crumble with vanilla ice cream... Actually that sounds so so inviting right now, I'm hungry ahaha!

5. How would you define success?
Success is one of those things that's in the eye of the beholder. In theory, I've had a lot of successes in my life so far; I've finished my studies at degree level, I'm working in a salaried job now and I think I've finally found what I want to do with my life in terms of work. However, on a serious note, I feel like success should be measured by your personal fulfilment; I have a fantastic boyfriend and good friends so I feel like I'm achieving a lot of good things in my twenties, so I'm looking forward to see where life is going to take me in the next few years.

6. Where would you like to be in 5 years time?
Ideally I would like to be in the same stable and enjoyable job and still living with my boyfriend, hopefully with enough of a deposit to start the process of buying a house (that's a big dream ahahaha). I'd like to be blogging still and hopefully have kept my mental health in check; it's hard to keep positive but I've got a lot to be happy about, so in 5 years time I should be super happy with how my life is. I'd like to have travelled a bit more, seen some of the world and enjoyed myself a lot more by that time too.

7. Name 3 biggest pieces of advice you could ever give:
- - Never look back on the bad times, focus on the good times; that applies for the past, the present and the future. Looking back doesn't help you move on and stay strong.
- - Don't be afraid to be different, no two people are ever same.
- - Be true to yourself is so important in every aspect of life; be honest about how you feel because you only live once.

8. Old Hollywood Beauty or modern?
Definitely Old Hollywood... There are so many beautiful looks that are just so classic and timeless at the same time.

9. What makes you follow a blog or social media account?
This will be probably sound strange but a mixture of things; for example, generally I love to follow new or working bloggers, those who have a lot of personality and clearly blog because they love it. I enjoy the interaction that comes from these kinds of bloggers as it's so nice get to know them and what they love. It's a very authentic feel. But that said, I do like to follow people who have thousands of followers too, but obviously there's minimal interaction because of so many followers. I think social media is a very powerful thing right now and overall those who use it are preferrring the authenticity of the people they follow over anything else. (That's true for me, at least). I prefer to follow people who don't have a strict theme, I like to see some reality in the world.

10. If you relive any day from your life, what day would you choose and why?
A bit cliché, but probably the first time I spent time with my boyfriend; like we weren't even dating really then but it was just a lovely day... Getting to know each other, no pressure, just enjoying wasting time in each other's company. It was the start of me feeling happy again, so I really cherish that day.

Beauty Blogger Tag

Hello again guys! I love finding these little tags and/or Q&As on other bloggers pages; they're super fun and easy to complete and I feel like I get to know the blogger quite well when I read them. This particular tag I found through youcancallmecaz so make sure you have a look at her blog as she's lovely and her blog is so interesting; she's one of my favourites at the moment. Although I blog about a variety of topics, I do love beauty so it made sense for me to do this tag. To any new blogger, I would recommend getting involved in the community and completing some tags as it's an excellent way of not only meeting other bloggers, but also it's an extra post if you're feeling uninspired. I don't have anyone in mind to tag to complete this next, but if you're reading this and want to complete it, go ahead! Now, read on to see my answers to these questions and let me know if you like these kinds of blog posts in the comments and have a lovely day! :)

Do you have any fashion or beauty icons? Who?!
When I was younger I was ridiculously obsessed with fashion and beauty to the point that I used to collect a variety of magazines like Vogue, i-D, LOVE, etc. Which not only gave me inspiration but also influenced me massively. My bedroom wall when I was a teenager was covered with scraps from newspapers and magazines. Overall my icons are Audrey Hepburn, Lily Cole, Alexa Chung, Cara Delevingne, Brigette Bardot and Twiggy, to name literally only a few. Now, I'm a little more open to the everyday girl and often get inspiration from YouTube; beauty looks in particular are super easy to find and follow on there.

Beauty pet peeve?
I don't really have any; (I think that Caz had a similar opinion) beauty is definitely in the eye of the beholder, although there are some weird trends like fluffy nails and using food and things to blend make up which I wouldn't do, but I don't ever look at someone's make up and think ugh that looks awful, I think an individual knows what suits them and what doesn't.
Would you rather wear no makeup for the rest of your life or makeup everyday (but you can't take it off when going to bed)
This is hard. I love make up, but in the last year I've definitely become much more confident in my own skin to the point that I wear make up much less now; I'll choose no make up as not taking it off would absolutely ruin my skin so... As much as I'd miss wearing make up, I would prefer clear skin.
Do you have any tips or tricks makeup/cosmetic wise?
One trick I always swear by is using a crayon concealer before primer, then liquid concealer after foundation; it never fails to cover up my huge dark circles!
Do you only buy cruelty-free makeup and if so why?
I tend to buy whatever I like in the drugstore; although as I'm getting older I'm more aware of animal cruelty and actually I was a strict vegetarian when I was younger, so I should really be more active in that sense. I'm thinking that I should buy more products from Lush and The Body Shop as they sell amazing make up that is cruelty free, but they're a little out of my budget too, unfortunately.
What do you consider to be your worst moment beauty-wise?
It has to be when I was in sixth form when I massively overplucked my eyebrows so that they were tiny, plus literally putting so much foundation on that they were practically invisible... It really was NOT a good look.
Skincare or Makeup?
Overall I prefer make up, you can't beat a bit of eyeliner and mascara paired with red lipstick, but at the same time... Skincare is getting more attention in my life now, as I do suffer from blotchy skin. If I don't moisturise or cleanse I definitely can feel my skin suffering. When you're a teenager you don't really take much care of your skin (I know I didn't, anyway) and it's something that haunts you when you reach your twenties. Right now, skincare and make up are definitely becoming more equal than I would've ever thought, but that's not a bad thing.

Favourite Blogs #10

Hello again; every month I enjoy discovering new blogs and rediscovering some old favourites. It's a fantastic way to find inspiration and get to know other people. There's something nice about getting to know a person through their likes and dislikes - blogging is a positive way to find out what you like and dislike. At the minute I've been reading a lot of blogs, through twitter and instagram, I like finding out about new blog posts, new bloggers and getting some honest reviews on a variety of things. Bloggers are usually honest, far more relatable than print in a magazine and they also cater for people like me; if I want to know about a make up product for someone with pale skin, I'll look out for a blogger that fits that category. There's definitely a blogger available for anyone, if you look hard enough. I'm loving twitter as way of communicating with other bloggers, and it's an easy way of clicking on blog post that takes your fancy. To have a look at any of the blogs below, just click on the blog URL and it'll direct you straight across!

Elizabeth's blog is ultra feminine and undeniably pretty; the soft pastels, natural make up looks and whimsical, pretty photographs of countries such as Italy, it's definitely a dreamy blog. I've been reading this blog for a while now as I love the layout and the romantic theme; there are make up reviews from brands like Benefit and Too Faced, which is lovely as they're quite expensive so it's nice to see honest reviews on them. She's also a fashionista, with many blog posts focussing on outfit choices and what she's listing after from the shops at the moment. There are also some cute little snippets of her young child; he's got a lovely little face and it's crazy seeing how quickly they grow! I also like her book reviews, she's got a classic style in all areas of her life.

I actually found Abby through her twitter page; ever since then I've really been loving her blog! Although I've been to Paris myself, her photography and posts just capture a magic about the city that I've never managed to see. Alongside her Paris posts, there are also fashion, beauty and travel based blog posts; my favourite of these are the definitely the travel posts. She has a way of capturing the parts of the world that most of us overlook. I've always wanted to visit Budapest and her post on the city has definitely encouraged me to make a trip sometime as it looks incredible! I'm a sucker for beautiful architecture and you'll love this blog if you also adore architecture, particularly those in Europe.

Another blogger that I've discovered from my new love affair with twitter; I fell in love with her blog instantly. The layout is simple and pleasing to the eye that it's just a lovely read. She's a blogger who covers a variety of topics such as beauty, travel, lifestyle and fashion. I admire her honestly, particularly when it comes to mental health topics such as anxiety. She's open with her readers, addressing her life regrets and also posting some honest reviews on a variety of things including films but mostly make up products. I like that she reviews mostly drugstore items as that's more realistic for my budget, so I was excited to read her posts on some MakeUp Revolution items as I do like to know if something is worth it prior to buying. Plus, I really loved her 'Dear Friends', it said so much about how she great she clearly is as a friend!

I originally found Eleanor's blog through her instagram page; I really like how she covers so many different topics such as beauty, fashion, lifestyle and feminism amongst many others. As a sufferer of mental health myself, it was so reassuring to see her share her own mental health story; it's fantastic that blogging has become an outlet for these kinds of issues. It was a great way to remember that you're never alone. Her taste in books is also great, as an avid reader myself I do love a good book review! Anyone who blogs about Harry Potter is always going to be onto a winner with me, as it was basically my whole childhood. Regardless of all of these things, her blog layout is also simple but effective as it's so easy to follow. The blog headings allow you to pick what posts you feel like delving into, which is very helpful.
